Services for patients who are housebound and unable to attend the surgery include:

  • Diabetic management
  • Wound management
  • Care of the dying
  • Continence promotion
  • Provision of equipment.

Community Midwife

Romana Shillinglaw

During pregnancy your antenatal care will be shared between your GP and the Community Midwife attached to this Practice.  The Midwife antenatal clinic is held on a Tuesday between 9.30 and 11.30, please phone the surgery to make appointments.  You and your partner will be invited to attend antenatal education classes, these are usually held at the Leith CTC.

Community Psychiatric Nurse

Southfield does not have a resident CPN but our doctors can refer into this service where appropriate. There is also a Thrive Drop in clinic available to all  Southfield Patients. This is available at Craigmillar Medical Practice on Tuesdays between 10am – 3.30pm iThrive | Thrive Welcome Teams (ithriveedinburgh.org.uk)

Each Thrive Welcome Team has friendly, skilled, and experienced mental health practitioners. The team members work closely together, in a collaborative and supportive way to think about ways in which they can help and support you.

They will give you a warm welcome, putting you and your needs at the very centre of the support they offer you. The teams can see people aged 18 – 64 years.

Support is available for a variety of factors which may be affecting your mental health including:

  • Help to manage their emotions
  • Feeling anxious
  • Having low confidence
  • Feeling lonely and isolated
  • Having difficulties in their relationships
  • Experiencing feelings of low mood, and depression
  • Carers’ mental health and wellbeing

Community Dietician

Your GP will refer you to the Dietician in the first instance and an appointment will be made for you
